CT Angiography

Calcified and soft plaque
in coronary arteries

Tchefuncte Cardiovascular Associates (TCA) is constantly focusing its efforts on prevention, early detection and effective treatment of cardiovascular diseases.

In that effort, more targeted treatment with less invasive, faster recovery is our goal. CT (computed tomography) is the latest advancements in medical technology used in diagnostic imaging. CT uses x-rays to create three-dimensional images of a part of the body. It is done with contrast (dye) for the physician to see blood vessels.

TCA is the first and only private medical practice in St. Tammany able to offer its patients critical information acquired from CT completely noninvasively, without pain and without post surgery recovery time- similar to an office visit.

CT uses special x-ray equipment to obtain data from different angles of an area of interest such as the heart, and then uses computer processing of the information to show a cross-section of the heart. Cardiac CT imaging is particularly useful because it can show blood vessels, heart chambers, heart valves, and overall heart structure with great clarity from multiple angles.

Diagnosis made with the resulting CT study of your heart is incredibly accurate because images are thinner and are attained with a 10-15 second breath hold. For you, the patient, this translates to faster exams, better quality of images for more accurate diagnosis by your physician.
